It is inevitable...

It is inevitable...

You shouldn't have settled down in Chandigarh. Punjab has the maximum cases of cancer. This was the advice I got from many near and dear ones when I had cancer. Then...IT seemed that the disease that caused the maximum number of deaths around me was none other than cancer. Even in the society where I live, there were three cancer deaths within a short span of few months. I survived - maybe I was still to complete many unfinished tasks or certain duties that had been assigned to me before I took birth. I moved on to be an Art of Living Teacher... grew professionally in my career, BUT lost my younger son. I saw different trajectories with time, and also learnt and realized that almost everyday thousands were crossing over to the other side. But now the scene is different. It is all about saving one's job and saving oneself from the virus called Corona virus.

A couple of months back the morning newspaper had more of accident, murder, assault, molestation and rape news. Now, thanks to Corona virus! suddenly there are no such crimes. We have taken shelter in our homes thinking the inevitable won't touch us within the four walls. Well! people do move out but not without fear - FEAR of death lingering in every corner.

Wow! isn't it wonderful - no diseases - the only disease now we have is this virus which though insurmountable today will soon weaken its hold in its war against scientists and researchers across the world. There are no death reports other than the ones caused by this so called deadly virus - and these can be counted. Isn't it interesting that now the deaths are destined to be only because of this virus.

Well! fear is turning out to be bigger than the virus. It is writ large in the eyes that meet you in the shops, near the vendors and on the roads if you happen to be outside. The fear of dying is deadlier than the virus. By the way, who has made us so paranoid? Like many others even I wonder if there is a bigger reason behind it.

One lesson learnt - we suffer the same way - you may give yourself the name of any religion - all have been cornered in a similar way. Then isn't it time to forget about putting the others down in the name of race, caste, creed, religion? Just before the lock down, we witnessed bloodshed in Delhi - for what? Learn your lesson, all hate mongers. Even you don't know when you will test positive for corona virus and find yourself isolated. And if by chance the tentacles of death catch you, what about religion, caste or nationality, your own kith and kin will not even touch your body.

People are amassing wealth without thinking of the suffering of the other one. But everyone knows how it is going to be after some time. Many job providers might find themselves without any means to make a living - suddenly wearing different shoes.

Life is beautiful if lived, ugly if snatched, fearful if devoid of freedom and lacklustre if devoid of love for our fellow beings.
